A little stressed? Planning a wedding is not easy. Balancing budgets and expectations, managing a long list of vendors, and trying to please everyone can be overwhelming. These three simple tips can help keep you grounded and focused on the things that really matter.
Spend Money on the Experience
All brides and grooms have a budget for their wedding. Making compromises doesn’t have to mean downsizing your dream. Spend money on the only thing that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life: the experience. You won’t remember the linens, the centrepieces or the appetizers. But you’ll remember tying the knot on a beautiful beach, wedding professionals who make you feel special, and dancing the night away to your favourite band. These memories will be with you forever.
Give it your Personal Touch
It’s important that your wedding feels like your wedding. Some family or friends may try to take over! Take every opportunity to personalize the event to you and your fiancé. It can be simple like choosing locations, colours, food, and music that are important to you. You may choose to marry in the same place you first fell in love, walk down the aisle to your special song, ask your celebrant to work a story about your meeting or journey so far, go with your very own theme, a special hashtag for your wedding day, or a personalised cake-topper about you two. Make sure the day has as many personal touches as possible.
Take Breaks
Don’t let planning your wedding consume every thought and every weekend from the moment you get engaged. It will exhaust you. Many bridal magazines have schedules of what to book when. If you give yourselves a break from wedding talk and planning every now and then, you will find you are much more excited about the planning process. Most couples book their venue, photographer, celebrant and a few other key wedding professionals, and then relax for a few months. Of course, as the wedding draws nearer, the excitement builds, and so does the workload.
Remember, there are many wedding planners and decorators who can alleviate some of your stress
